The El Camino Bus Speed and Reliability Study analyzes the impact of slowdowns on SamTrans bus service along El Camino Real and identifies potential changes to achieve faster and more reliable service. Changes under consideration include:

• Bus stop balancing to help buses travel faster by reducing the number of stops
• Bus bulbs and queue jumps to help reduce the amount of time buses spend merging into traffic
• Pedestrian improvements and bus shelters to improve the experience of bus riders accessing and waiting at stops
• Bus-only lanes to help buses bypass traffic congestion
